Over the last couple of years, we've seen mobile apps become a recognised part of daily life for mobile phone users. Apple’s iPhone has blazed the trail for the mobile industry, and created overnight a business model for monetising content on portable devices.  Are these models working? Are people making money? How do I exploit apps to promote my business? Where do I start?

Whether you’re a developer, agency, brand or individual interested in mobile apps, Screen Yorkshire’s Mobile Manifest  will answer these questions through a series of showcases, panel debates and presentations by the industry.....

When: Wednesday 21st July, 12.30 – 17.00
Where: Digital Media Centre, County Way, Barnsley S70 2JW

  • An opportunity to see and hear from some of the regional success stories showcasing their apps across the various platforms
  • A platform to take part in the debate session
  • An insight into Mobile Development Training
  • A networking opportunity with industry peers at Barnsley’s £10.5m landmark Digital Media Centre

Punk Pie – York-based developers will showcase the first to market audio-only game Aurifi on the Apple App Store
Squareware – This Sheffield located developer will share their development insight across iPhone, Android and iPad
Creative North – Developers from Huddersfield will share their development of iPhone app iHobo, and Flight Frenzy on the Android platform
Drive Gain – Ilkley-based Simon East of Shozu fame will share his experiences of the start-up, along with showcasing his latest project Drive Gain

Mobile Training Insight with Nti Leeds

Whether you’re looking to extend your services to your clients, or looking to start out in mobile development Nti Leeds mobile trainer Dave Verwer of Shiny Developments will provide the context of making the shift into mobile development.

Industry Insight

Katie Lips – will provide a strategic insight into mobile, and predicting the iPad, and it’s role in changing our digital futures.
Jon Moss – from Hull Apps will give the marketer perspective on mobile apps – Knowing your audience. Does your brand really need an app?

Panel Discussion – Where’s the APPetite?

Participants will join the debate on where the Mobile App ecosystem will take us now, and in the future.

This event is free to attend for companies and individuals based in the region, but registration is essential and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Screen Yorkshire manages the new £15m Yorkshire Content Fund, launched in February 2012. Screen Yorkshire will invest in content within in TV, film, video games and the digital sectors in Yorkshire and Humber through the innovative new Yorkshire Content Fund. The largest fund of its kind in the UK, the Yorkshire Content Fund is managed by Screen Yorkshire and is funded with £7,500,000 of investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which will be matched by private investment on a project-by-project basis. Screen Yorkshire will invest in content creation by Yorkshire-based companies as well as being used to attract productions looking to locate within the region.
